Priyam Garg Taken to Hospital After a Nasty Blow
In
an unfortunate incident, Indian batsman Priyam Garg was hit in the neck with a
dangerous blow to the neck as he presented himself to an idiotic point on the
fourth day of his team's Duleep Trophy match against India Red in Alur. Priyam
Garg fell to the ground as the players rushed to watch him. Fortunately, he was
conscious even though he was naturally grimacing in pain.
The
physio immediately ran in and applied a bag of ice to the affected area. An
ambulance was brought to the field and, as a precaution, he was taken to
hospital for testing. The horrific incident took place on the final part of the
138th day of the India Red heats, led by Spinner Rahul Chahar.
Avesh
Khan had swung backwards to kick back, and Garg was coming into the line of the
ball. He tried to protect himself by taking evasive action, but that has not
changed much. The ball turned well. Fortunately, his helmet had a neck guard
that attenuated the impact.
Recently,
Australian star Steve Smith also had a blow to the neck during the second Ashes
Test. Smith looked away at a delivery delivered by Jofra Archer and had to
leave the field. A few minutes later, he returned to action but was replaced by
a concussion.
