Babar Azam Continues to Score Runs
Pakistan's Babar Azam was only working another day, while the first striker continued to earn points for his Somerset side in the current T20 competition, the Vitality Blast 2019.
Babar Azam hit scores 44 runs out of 29 balls against Gloucestershire in Bristol, before being beaten by a return delivery from Tom Smith in the tenth and baffled by James Bracey.
However, Azam's fine effort failed as Somerset failed to reach the 190-point target and collapsed to 164, losing 25 points. The Pakistani batting superstar, however, remains the tournament's leading scorer with 478 points in 10 matches, with an enticing average of 59.75 and a strike rate of 152.71.
"Halfway through the hunt, we were on a cruise and one step ahead of (Gloucestershire) but a few careless dismissals, unfortunately, cost us," said Jason Kerr, head coach of Somerset County.
"We have three group games left, starting tomorrow against Glamorgan, and we know we have to win at least two. But we're going to win every game and we're going to keep qualifying," he added.
