Ashwin Might Not Play First Test Between WI Vs IND
As India prepares to face the West Indies in the first Test of the two-match series, Ravichandran Ashwin is likely not to play the first test between WestIndies Vs India. The Indian spearhead should make way for his young team-mate Kuldeep Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja, in the first attack.
According to a mid-day report, India would likely play two pacers and two spinners along with Jadeja and Kuldeep Jadav, Jasprit Bumrah and Ishant Sharma. Tourists will play six batsmen in addition to Rishabh pants. The pants are also set to put on the wicketkeeper gloves. It is therefore unlikely that Wriddhiman Saha will return to testing in the next match.
Ashwin not having a chance for the next game is not a big surprise. The last time India played a test, Kuldeep made headlines for good reason. In the Sydney test, Kuldeep had captured a record with five litters. On the other hand, Ashwin was left behind by another injury setback. Kuldeep's performance led coach Ravi Shastri to declare that the elbow on his left arm would be India's number one spinner in Tests away from home.
Ashwin had consistently battled his injuries last year during the series. In total, Ashwin missed up to five Tests in South Africa, England and Australia last year. He had no chance in the eleven to play the Johannesburg Test before missing the last Test in England with a groin injury.
